Astonishing new music all the way from Japan courtesy of Siva via Dotei Records.
As soon as I heard this one I knew I had to get some copies and thankfully Takuro over at Dotei Records in Tokyo was ablel to help in getting a batch over to me here in the UK.
Three cuts of mesmerising minimalist percussive dub each with their own distinctive style that gives a nod to the past whilst delivering a sound that is very much firmly focused on the future. First up is the epic 8 minute "Done" which combines driving drum patterns with a chunky snaking bassslline and liberal use of echo to hypnotic effect. Then flip it over for "Respect - Version" which sees Siva put his own unique twists on Augustus Pablo's melodica driven Far Eastern sound before proceedings are brought to a close by the slower, darker post-punk influenced ambience of "Kirin."
All three tracks are absolute knock outs. Without a doubt some of the most interesting new music I've heard so far this year.
Mastered by the bass master Pole for maximum low frequency pressure and delivered in a lovely bespoke printed sleeve with insert.
The first few orders will also get some stickers kindly provided by the label.
