I've been an admirer of Toronto label Local Dish's output for some time so I'm very excited to be able to offer some of their fine records at Dubwise Vinyl and what a record to kick things off with here!
Canadian reggae legend Nina McLena delivers a mind blowing vocals performance over a sparse and heavy rhythm that pays homage to the early 80's Scientist/Roots Radics productions whilst also sounding refreshingly contemporary and unique. The contrast of Nina's yearning soulful vocals and the moody dark edge to the rhythm work an absolute treat. Make sure you also check out the pleasingly zonked dub on the flip too that sounds like Scientist meeting Lee Scratch Perry for some mixing desk mayhem at Tubby's. So, so good...
Co-produced by Chris Flanagan of Shella records and delivered on extremely limited lathe cut 7"s. Pretty sure these are the only ones available in the UK at the moment.
