If you've listened to my mixes and heard me DJ then you'll probably know I have a bit of a soft spot for female vocal roots and when it comes to that sub-genre this tune is up there as one of the very best.
Joy White's sublime Dread Out Deh was originally released on the Eagle label in 1974 produced by the late great Lloyd Campbell. There's something magical about Joy's vocals on this one that just touches your soul. A unique kind of mournful soulfulness that mixes pain with a hope for redemption. Absolutely beautiful.
Comes complete with a very nice stripped back dub on the flip too.
