Following that sterling debut 12" I'm pleased to report Glasgow's Void Control are back with another killer vinyl transmission of dark and dubwise delights for the head and the feet.
Opener and title track "The Other Side" delivers a taught slice of bass driven dancefloor ready badness occupying the murky waters between dub techno and dubstep complete with some perfectly selected biblical rasta vocals chanting down babylon. This is followed by the expertly crafted slo-mo dub-jungle breakbeats "The Future Ain’t Bright" that brings the A-side to a close in fine style.
Then flip it over and the pace slows but not the bass pressure. The Watkins Group Tempest Dub of "Ghost Notes" (the title track from the first EP) pushes dub reductionism to the max with a beautifully meditative piece of ambient dub channelling the more abstract end the Rhythm & Sound musical spectrum before "Dead Space" ramps up the low end pressure utilising the power of the dub principles of bass weight and negative space to devastating effect. Proceedings are then brought to a close with "Twenty Plus" which delivers a dubbed out dreamlike reconstruction of early 90's rave.
Very limited run of 150 copies on white coloured vinyl, each one hand stamped and stickered with an inlay.
