This one totally knocked my socks off the first time I heard it. It's so up my street it's ridiculous. Like someone has climbed into my brain and made a record specifically to suit my music tastes.
Four cuts of beautifully dubwise left of centre dance music. Two original tracks and two remixes. All flipping amazing.
A-side is home to "Ghost Notes"" which is a genius slice of dark industrial edged ambient dub. One of those tunes that grabs you right from the start and then expertly draws you in further and further and further... The remix to this one comes from Alex Smoke who ups the beats and the pace whilst thankfully maintaining the compelling weirdness of the original. The result is exactly the kind of wonky dub techno that ticks all the boxes for me (see Gombeen & Doygen/Wah Wah Wino etc.).
Then flip it over and things get a little more funky whilst still shrouded in a fog of dubby psychedelia. "Skeletal Movements" feels like the mutant offspring off UKG and dub techno, there's definitely a groove in there but there's also a whole load of other tripped out weirdness going on which I'm absolutely loving... Then proceedings are brought to a close with an expertly minimalist remix that is nothing short of spectacular from Glasgow's Mother. Autechre meets Jah Shaka. Insane.
What a record!
