Following that storming (and now long sold out) reissue of the epic "Cantamilla" last year Berlin's excellent Sound Metaphors return to the musical treasure trove that is the back catalogue of West Coast downtempo trip-hop pioneers Tranquility Bass to reissue this much sort after gem that was originally released in 1991.
I first came across "They Came In Peace" on Mo Wax's seminal Headz comp where it really stood out as something very special indeed with its distinctive mix of ambient, jazz, hip hop and a rolling dub bassline. Here you not only get the original version in its full 8 minute glory but also an ace dub that bumps up the bass and drums to give it a bit more of a dance floor edge.
Not an easy 12" to get your hands on nowadays so a yet another inspired and very welcome reissue here from the Sound Metaphors crew.
