Love this one! Superb reggae version of the David Bowie classic (which is now probably equally famous for Nirvana's acoustic version) from the Wally Brothers (who I believe may actually be The Cimarons) that was originally released on UK label and Trojan subsidiary Explosion in 1974.
The additional strings and synths give the whole thing a very distinct and slightly cosmic sound which comes through nicely on the bass heavy instrumental dub on the flip. It's a song that seems to lend itself well to the reggae treatment and if you're digging this I would also encourage you to hunt down the wonderful steelpan version that the Melodians Steel Orchestra did a little while back.
Very welcome reissue 45 from Jamwax out of France.
