Following on from that inspired reissue of The Detonators' untouchable Lift Off (which is also now back in stock) here's another unmissable 10" dubplate style reissue couortesy of the Roots Mythology imprint.
This one collects together two previously unreleased dubplate cuts from Birmingham early 80's reggae sensations Musical Youth. However if you're expecting Pass The Dutchie you in for quite a surprise! Both cuts here are properly deep and dubwise roots cuts. The A-side sees then team up with the keyboard king himself Jackie Mittoo for a mad dubbed out rework of Jackie's "Mash Down Babylon" complete with wailing dub sirens, cut and paste samples and some wicked deejay chat from Kelvin Grant. Then flip it over for "Political Dub" which in my opinion is possibly even better than the A-side. An extraordinary spaced out cosmic dub masterpiece that somehow seems to join the dots between UK roots, post-punk and pysch. Yeah it really is that good - have a listen!
