Always delighted to hear new music from Miles J Paralysis and this stonking new six track EP on Long Gone Are The Old Traditions offers a further glimpse into the distinctive sonic universe he's building that draws influences not only from dub but also industrial, post-punk and the darker edges of the dancefloor.
There's a pleasing variety of styles on offer here from the gothic deconstructed dubstep of opening track "All Out Of Gas" to the dubbed out dark wave of "Cows Can't Hide From Rain" to the spooky spoken word ambience of "Margaret's Summary" (and that's just the A-side!). However this eclecticism is also bound together by a consistent eerie otherworldliness that runs not just throughout this record but all of Miles' productions making him one of the most interesting and distinctive producers currently operating at the dub/dance intersection.
