Long term followers of Dubwise Vinyl will know I'm a big fan of Michael Fiedler's musical output (a.k.a. Jah Schulz) . Both volumes of his recent Dub Over Science LPs and the Dub Showcase record that preceded it were top class and so it's no surprise to hear that I was very excited indeed when I heard he has a double vinyl release coming out on The Bug's excellent Pressure label under a new alias - Ghost Dubs.
And I'm glad to report that the same high quality continues here with possibly his strongest record yet that further develops his distinctive brand of dark industrial edged dub across two slabs of beautiful sounding vinyl bringing in influences from other dubwise hybrids such as dub techno and dubstep to create a darkly mesmerising and meditative trip into the depths of the echo chamber.
It's also worth noting that despite its pleasingly experimental approach this is a record that never loses sight of the sound system. Mastered by Stefan Betke (a.k.a. Pole) it packs some serious bassweight and is guaranteed to give those subs a work out sounding equally brilliant at home or in the club.
Superb record. Highly recommended.
