A big personal favourite this one, as featured as the closing tune in the recent mix I did for the BFDM show on NTS.
An early recording from Bob and the Wailers dating back to 1968 which is an adaptation of the long standing "Crying In The Chapel" made most famous by Elvis's version released a few years before this.
Produced by Rastafari elder Mortimer Planno who was inspired to write the lyrics after Haile Selassie's visit to Jamaica in 1966 it's a stripped back masterpiece featuring hand percussion, acoustic guitar and an exemplary vocal performance from Bob that is both deeply soulful and spiritually uplifting.
A truly stunning and peerless recording.
