Big one incoming! Been waiting for this one to get a reissue for a long time...
A definite contender for one the greatest ever showcase LPs, Bim Sherman's epic Lovers Leap originally released in 1978 and reissued twice since then in the UK in the late 80s and early 90s by by RDL and Century records respectively but with all three of these pressings now pricey and in short supply this latest reissue from Lantern Records out of Italy is most welcome indeed.
Presented here in it's original Jamaican sleeve housing five sublime vocal cuts alongside their crucial dubs mixed at Tubby's by Prince Jammy. With the rhythms recorded at Channel One and Randy's by Roots Radics and Soul Syndicate the instrumental backing is classic super tuff prime time late 70's roots which contrasts beautifully with Bim's hauntingly soulful and fragile vocals. The title track is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion and when you let it run into Jammy's heavyweight dub it really is nothing short of reggae perfection.
100% essential.
