I was excited as soon as I saw this link up between Italy's Babe Roots and Japan's New Dub Hall label then I listened to the clips and got a whole lot more excited!
A-sider "Mi Feel It" featuring dub poet Wayne (who Babe Roots have worked with previously on their "Through We" 12" released on System Music) really is something very special indeed. Sitting somewhere between dub techno, dub poetry and golden era 90's trip hop (think Blue Lines-era Massive Attack...) it's the sort of thing dubwise dreams are made of. This one ticks so many boxes for me it's ridiculous. Amazing tune!
However it doesn't stop there. Flip it over and we're treated to a soulful rootical dub techno/dub poetry version of Michael Smith's "Roots" featuring none other than Undefined's very own Ohkuma on drums who provides percussive backing to Wayne's deeper than deep dub poetry.
Two brilliantly diverse and innovative global dubwise sounds on one mighty fine 10" dubplate style.
