various-wild-paarty-sounds-vol-1-lp
Various | Wild Paarty Sounds Vol 1 LP

Ace collection of On-Sound gems that was originally licensed and released on Cherry Red Records in 1981.

This one feels like the perfect showcase for what made On-U Sound such a special label in bridging the worlds of reggae and post-punk. There's reggae on here but not the kind of reggae people were used to hearing in the early 80's (Jah Woosh's extraordinary staccato deejay cut "Woodpecker Sound" and Prince Far I and Creation Rebel's biblical "Quante Jublia") but also whole load of amazing experimental post-punk which still sounds as fresh today as it did 45 years ago (the outernational dub of Suns Of Arqa's "Asian Rebel" and the tripped out "Afghani Dub" from The Mothmen).

As far as I'm aware all these cuts were exclusive to this release (at least at the time when it was initially released). A very welcome reissue here form Lantern Records of this important landmark record.

Tracklist
A1 Jah Woosh – Woodpecker Sound
A2 Machine Gun Hogg & Co. – Bed Bound Saga
A3 Prince Far I & Creation Rebel – Quanté Jubila
A4 The Chicken Granny – Quit The Body
A5 Alan Pellay – Parasitic Machine
A6 London Underground – Dreams Are Better
B1 Suns Of Arqa – Asian Rebel
B2 Alan Pellay – Demonic Forces
B3 The Mothmen – Afghani Dub
B4 Jeb Loy & The Oil Wells – Things That Made U.S.
B5 New Age Steppers – Yipee I Aah
B6 Judy Nylon – The Dice
