Intriguing collection of Japanese reggae from the mid 70's to mid 80's that shows how reggae rhythms and dub bass lines had seamlessly integrated themselves into the Japanese pop landscape during the decade.

Just have a listen to the stripped back bass driven groove of Miki Hirayama's "Denshi Lenzi" (with a bass line who might recognise from Natural Mystic) or the dreamy lovers rock inspired "Lazy Love" by Izumi "Mimi" Kobayashi or the dubwise reggae-funk of "Hittin' Me Where It Hurts" by Marlene.

As with all good compilations it provides a unique and fascinating window into a musical world that, I think it's fair to say, most of us would have no idea about and provides access to some amazing tunes that would be impossible to get hold of otherwise.

1. Miki Hirayama - Tsukikage No Nagisa

4. Izumi “Mimi” Kobayashi - Lazy love
5. Junko Yagami - Johannesburg
