Now this is a collaboration that makes total sense!
Post-punk dub pioneers Holy Tongue team up with master of moody electronic soundscapes Shackleton and the results are as off the scale amazing as you'd dream they would be. The two differing styles of each party involved here fit like a glove with the raw instrumental power of Holy Tongue being beautifully complimented by Shackleton's deep textured sonic worlds and the result is a very special record that delivers on it promise of being something much greater than the sum of it's parts.
A perfect example this in action is the epic six minute masterpiece "The Merciful Lake" that offers an intriguingly darker take on the cosmic psychedelic dub sound, coming across like a more nocturnal and menacing younger sibling to Pecker's "Kylyn". Swirling atmospherics, haunted choral chants and a growling earth shaking bassline that Shaka would be proud of - it's one hell of a tune.
Top record!
